Examples of Our Work
Real driveways, walkways, patios, and commercial entrances we've resurfaced — all using the same polymer overlay system.

When a Resurfacing Overlay Makes Sense
Resurfacing is the right call when your existing concrete is structurally sound but cosmetically tired — cracks, stains, fading, or just plain grey. Instead of tearing out and repouring (which can run $30K+), we resurface for a fraction of the cost with a custom decorative finish.
Common reasons our clients call us:
- Driveway has surface cracks or pitting
- Existing concrete is faded, stained, or oil-marked
- Want stone, tile, or brick aesthetic without the cost
- Adding curb appeal before listing the home
- New build owner wants a premium finish from day one
- Existing decorative concrete needs refresh
- Walkways and patios match the new driveway look
Why Memphis Driveways Show Wear Faster
Memphis isn't an easy climate for concrete. We work in this market every day, so we know what fails and why.
Memphis Red Clay Subgrade
Most of Shelby County sits on expansive red clay that swells in wet seasons and shrinks in dry ones. That movement causes hairline cracks in your concrete that get worse over time. We see this most on driveways built 15+ years ago across Cordova, Germantown, Collierville, and Bartlett. Resurfacing with a polymer overlay won't stop the clay from moving, but with proper crack-prep we can deliver a finish that holds through normal seasonal movement.
August Heat & UV Exposure
Memphis sees 50+ days a year above 90°F, and concrete surface temperatures regularly hit 130°F+ in direct August sun. That destroys cheap epoxy or non-UV-stable sealers within 2-3 years. We only install systems rated for full UV exposure — that's why our overlays don't yellow, chalk, or peel under Mid-South sun.
Mid-South Freeze-Thaw Exposure
Memphis sees roughly 20-35 freeze-thaw cycles a year, mostly clustered between mid-December and February. It's not Cleveland or Denver, but it's enough to do real damage over a decade — water gets into concrete cracks at night, freezes and expands, then thaws by afternoon. Combined with our occasional harder freezes (the February 2021 event was a wake-up call), it's a real factor we design for. Our polymer-modified overlay and UV-stable sealer are both rated for freeze-thaw exposure, and we never install during a freeze forecast.
Humidity & Cure Timing
Summer humidity in Memphis runs 65-80%, which slows concrete and polymer cure times compared to dry climates. We schedule installs to give each layer a full cure window. We avoid installing during the peak of August heat or January cold — both compromise the bond. Spring and fall are our highest-volume install seasons.
Finishes We Offer
Pick the look that fits your home — every finish uses the same polymer overlay system.
Smooth Stained Overlay
Modern, minimalist finish. Polymer overlay troweled smooth, stained in your color, sealed clear. Sophisticated and clean — looks like premium hand-poured concrete.
Stamped Overlay (Stone, Slate, Brick, Tile)
Textured pattern pressed into the overlay while it's still workable. 30+ patterns: ashlar slate, cobblestone, European fan, wood plank, tile grids. Color stained to match.
Scored & Geometric Patterns
Saw-cut joints in custom patterns after the overlay cures. Great for breaking up large driveways visually — tile grids, border accents, custom geometric layouts.
Combined Texture + Color
Layered approach: stamped texture + multiple stain colors + scored borders. The most premium-looking option, hand-finished one panel at a time.
Why Resurfacing Beats Tear-Out or Paint
Better finish, fraction of the cost, designed to last.
Fraction of Tear-Out Cost
Tearing out and repouring a typical driveway can run $30,000+ once you include demo, haul, and finish. A polymer overlay resurfaces for a fraction of that — and delivers a custom decorative finish, not plain grey.
Won't Peel Like a Coating
Polymer overlay chemically bonds to the existing concrete — it becomes PART of the slab, not a layer sitting on top. Epoxy and driveway paint peel; overlays don't.
UV-Stable Sealer for Mid-South Summer
Two coats of UV-stable sealer protect against direct sun, hot tires, road salt, and freeze-thaw. Re-sealing every 3-5 years keeps the color crisp for life.
Our Resurfacing Process
Five steps, done right — no shortcuts on prep, primer, or seal.
- 1
Surface Prep & Crack Repair
Diamond-grind the existing concrete to a clean profile. Repair cracks with structural filler. Pressure-wash and let dry.
- 2
Primer / Bond Coat
Chemical primer applied to the prepped concrete. This creates the chemical bond — when the overlay cures, it becomes part of the slab.
- 3
Polymer Overlay (Two Layers)
Cement-based polymer overlay troweled in two ~1/8" layers. Pattern, texture, or smooth — we lock in the design while the second layer is workable.
- 4
Stain Application
Acid stain (permanent chemical-reaction earth tones) OR water-based stain (broader color range, custom blends). Multiple test patches before we commit — you approve in person.
- 5
Two Coats of UV-Stable Sealer
Final two coats of clear sealer lock in color, harden the surface, and block stains. Walk on in 24h, drive on in 72h.
Total install: 4-7 days depending on size and finish complexity. 5-year warranty on overlay bond.
Driveway Investment
Concrete driveway resurfacing is a premium home investment — typically $14-$20 per square foot depending on the finish complexity you pick. Custom-stained smooth overlay sits at the lower end. Stamped + multi-color + scored combinations run higher.

Pricing in Memphis and surrounding areas — final number depends on existing concrete condition, square footage, finish choice, and access. We bring real sample blocks to your free in-home quote and give you a fixed price before we start — no surprises after.
5-Year Warranty Against Overlay Bond Failure
Every concrete driveway resurfacing we install carries a 5-year warranty against the overlay separating from the existing concrete. Sealer wear is normal and expected (re-seal every 3-5 years), but the overlay bond is guaranteed for 5 years. Call (901) 657-3373 for full warranty details.

Common Questions
Straight answers about resurfacing, longevity, and what to expect.
The overlay itself lasts 15-25+ years — it's bonded into the concrete and won't separate. Sealer wears faster (5-7 years before showing wear) but is easily re-applied. The stained color is permanent under the sealer.
