Our Concrete Polishing Process
Polishing is a multi-step mechanical process — no coatings, no chemicals except densifiers. We start with coarse diamond grits (usually 30 or 50 grit) to open the concrete and remove existing coatings, damage, or surface staining. Then we step up through progressively finer grits — 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500, and sometimes 3000 — each pass refining the surface. Between passes, we apply a lithium or sodium silicate densifier that hardens the concrete from the inside out. The final passes produce the shine: matte, satin, semi-gloss, or high-gloss depending on how far we take the polish. Most jobs end at satin or semi-gloss for practical reasons — high-gloss shows every scuff, matte doesn't quite have the visual impact. We can also add stains or dyes during the polishing process for colored polished floors, or integrate decorative saw-cuts for patterns.
